If you've been on 40 lately you KNOW right around Poplar is gonna add a solid 15 to that drive. The news out of TDOT isn't great if you were hoping for some relief and smooth sailing, sadly.
Get ready for MORE closures especially around Poplar!
Here's what's on TDOT website:
"Closures
For MemFix 4, a portion of I-240 will be closed to all traffic for UP TO 12 weekends between June 2018 and June 2019. During the scheduled closures, I-240 will be closed from the I-240/I-40 split to the north and the I-240/State Route 385 split to the south. The interstate detour will remain the same for all 12 weekends.
Various parts of the project will be done at night and during off-peak travel times. Due to the nature of this work, one lane in each direction of I-240 will be CLOSED near the bridges for the duration of the project. This will allow crews to safely move equipment through the work zone, complete foundation repairs, and prepare each bridge for the closure weekends.
Detours on local streets will be dependent upon specific bridge work. Interstate and local access maps are provided below. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic should follow directional signage near the work zone.
